Mackmyra 2013 Tasting Notes
Neat, without water
Picture this: Be catapulted back to your childhood with chewing gum and jelly bean machines and a tempting selection of classic sweets in tubs on oak shelves at an old-fashioned newsagent.
Nose: Sweet almonds, edible necklaces, banana mousse and toffee bananas. Strawberry crayons, watermelon and blueberry dragees. Bubblegum, mango drops, white chocolate milk, sorbet, and liquorice pipes. Chocolate liquors, crystallised ginger and rose water.
Palate: An oak spice rack with ginger, cinnamon, black pepper, star anise, cloves and cardamom. Cinnamon candies, sweet and chocolate mice, banana caramel, liquorice fudge, and candy apple. Rose water and a hint of birch smoke.
Finish: Long and persistent with spices and oak spicy.
With a few drops of water
Nose: Chocolate bananas, Turkish delights, cinnamon rolls, mint chewing gum, and floral gummies. Spit-roasted beef on birch wood and a pot of salad cream to dip Chinese lettuce leaves in.
Palate: Complex and layered like a full mean. Starter of prawns with black pepper and mayonnaise. Main of beef with cream, asparagus and mushrooms. Dessert of dark chocolate cake, coffee and walnut cake, and cinnamon buns. All tasted in front of a birch wood fire.
Finish: A long, lingering finish with spicy chocolate, chai tea and cinnamon roll
