Ed's tasting notes
Colour: Natural colour. Light amber, coating my copita.
Nose: Part caramelised red orchard apples. Vanilla custard pastries, served with a latte. Cinnamon and nutmeg. An underlying cereal note.
Palate: Medium mouthfeel. Orchard apples with peaches. Pain au raisin, thick cut lemon and orange marmalade. Milk chocolate. Bright spice.
Finish: Medium to long. Orange marmalade and spice.
About Firkin Ten Benrinnes 2008 Whisky
Firkin Whisky Company have married whisky from Benrinnes distillery in Aberlour, Speyside with the tangy and spicy richness of Madeira wine from Portugal. Firkin's custom uses half American first-fill Bourbon staves and half new French Limousin oak staves. This Double Oak cask, with the spicy richness of Madeira, creates a unique flavour profile, creating a dram that is rich, lively and a tad spicy.
